Research Administration Program for Training and Resources (RAPTR) & Community of Research Administrators (CoRA)

CoRA

Members of CoRA fill various research administration and related roles around Grounds: pre-award, post-award, contracting, compliance, and more. CoRA meets monthly (via Zoom) to network, learn more about the processes and policies that impact your work, and get to know the people in offices across Grounds that intersect with your researchers' portfolios.

The CoRA Steering Committee is a revolving group of 4-6 volunteers from the major Schools and other areas who serve 6-month appointments to plan and host the meetings. CoRA also maintains an active listserv (cora@virginia.edu).

To subscribe, send an email to sympa@virginia.edu and type "subscribe CORA yourfirstname yourlastname" in the subject line.

RAPTR

RAPTR is an institutional partnership of stakeholders and research administration-focused units with the goal of increasing the knowledge base of the research administration workforce. RAPTR was created by colleagues in the School of Medicine and is supported by iTHRIV and its NIH-funded CTSA award.

RAPTR Office Hours

These open-forum discussions and Q&A sessions take place on the first and third Wednesday of the month. RAPTR Office Hours the week after CoRA focus on that month's CoRA topic while others are open discussions or address independent topics.

Contact the RAPTR team at RAPTR@virginia.edu to ask about the RAPTR CoRA Zoom Channel and learn more.

Research Administration Mentoring Program and University Partnership (RAMP UP)

RAPTR, supported by iTHRIV, offers RAMP UP UVA—a one-year program that provides professional development for Research Administrators through mentoring and workshops.

Contact Kayla Calvo (krc7d@virginia.edu) for more information.

Research Administrators Forum (RAF)

This semiannual professional forum brings the UVA research administration community together with the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) and OSP to discuss sponsor updates and university initiatives. In-person attendance also provides opportunities to network and collaborate with colleagues across Grounds.

Sign up to receive OSP Communications to be notified about the next RAF.

School and Unit Meetings

Some schools and units offer meetings for Research Administrators. Contact school- or unit-level leadership to inquire about possible opportunities.
