Split V logo with Sponsored Programs

For those who I have not met or have not heard, my name is Laura Kozma, and I am the new Associate Vice President for Research Operations and Executive Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). I arrive with almost 20 years of experience in research administration at both private (Yale University and University of Miami) and public (University of Connecticut) R1 institutions. At UVA, I lead the OSP team and work closely with other UVA senior leadership on the critical issues facing our institution. I am here to collaborate and work with the UVA community to facilitate the incredible research led by our faculty. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for any reason. I am so thankful for the incredibly warm welcome I have received and look forward to getting to know our faculty, administrators and colleagues.

As we continue to navigate the federal landscape, the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) will continue to evaluate and issue guidance. A few reminders:

  • Please escalate all communications from federal agencies regarding F&A or indirect costs to OSP.
  • It is critical to ensure all awards are managed in compliance with regulation and sponsor policies (e.g., costs are allowable, reports are timely, awards are managed to minimize cost transfers, closeout is timely, etc.).
  • If your award is terminated, you are encouraged to submit an appeal in coordination with OSP.
  • Reach out to OSP whenever you need assistance.

My office is here to support you and answer your questions.
